Video of the gala premiere of the movie “Wax figure” by Lidija Špegar and Vesna Mačković
Gala premiere of the movie “Wax figure” by Lidija Špegar took place on December, 14th 2019. in the Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb and was led by Vilim Matula. Discussion with the authors Vesna Mačković and Lidija Špegar was moderated by premiere’s coordinator within the programme “MSU Day for 10!”, Dunja Martić Štefan.
Movie premiere was held in Gorgona hall as part of the whole-day celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the Museum of Cotemporary Art being on its new location. The movie was created in the summer of 2017 during Vesna’s artistic tour in New York where she carried out numerous art performances – performing as a “Wax figure of Croatian artist in New York” on different locations throughout New York provoking the reactions of the passersby.
After the movie screening and discussion with the author, Vesna’s digital drawings where also presented and the visitors were able to buy them on the spot, and will soon be able to buy them online. The entire profit collected from selling Vesna’s digital drawings will be directed toward art organisation ARKTIK – The Institute for the Future which was founded by Mačković in order to make art accessible to everyone, and for which she is currently starting up a crowdfunding campaign, which was also talked about during the discussion after the movie screening.
